Today marks the opening of the London 2012 Summer Olympics and since they are the only sporting events that I ever actually make a point of watching (Equestrian, Gymnastics and Swimming are especial favourites of mine), I thought I'd put together a look inspired by the 2012 Games and of course, Team Canada.
You can't have a patriotic look without our country's colours - red and white, so I had to include a cute striped top and white shorts from Joe Fresh. But in addition to our core colours, I don't know that there is anything more iconically Canadian than the Hudson Bay Company stripes. They are actually the official outfitters for the Canadian team - no surprise there - and my favourite Team Canada item was the great patch-emblazoned jean jacket. But due to my love affair with the HBC stripes those are by far my favourite pieces. My must-have picks? A summery swimsuit and a camera to catch all the action. Not to mention a cozy striped sweater.
Last but not least? Some medal-inspired polishes in the requisite gold, silver and bronze. All fabulous colours, but I am definitely hoping to see gold most of all in the coming weeks - for Canada that is!
