Spectacle Spectacular

The weather here on the Island has been cooling down lately, with a taste of oncoming autumn breezes in the air. I'm definitely getting the itch to break out cozy sweaters, cords, boots, tights and more, but also on my wishlist for fall? Fabulous new spectacles. Having recently gotten a new prescription (and an excuse for new frames), I've been poring over some of the great (and discounted!) styles over at Smartbuyglasses.ca, and have put together a few of my favourite pairs with some fall-inspired outfits.

One of the main types of frame that I like right now is the oversized look (I tend towards these in sunglasses too). A little nerdy, and although they are (as described by the one and only Ms. Leandra Medine) very much in the style of "birth-control glases", I happen to like the academic look, and styled up this lovely pair by Balenciaga with an appropriately studious, yet comfortable and casual look.

If you've been following my blog for a while, you'll know that I also absolutely love cat-eye frames (see my other post on them here!). I fell in love with this pair by Tom Ford, and style it up in the perfect librarian-chic look. I might be reaching just a wee bit over-budget with pieces by Jil Sander, Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood, but a girl can dream! I will say though, that for a long time I have worn designer glasses (my current pair is Fendi) that I've purchased right here on PEI but the folks at Smartbuyglasses.ca are definitely winning me over by offering some of my favourite labels for significantly less. For a girl who loves designer names for a bargain? It pretty much = love.

Last but not least, a favourite colour of mine as far as frames are concerned is white (and also clear/transparent). So often you see super dark frames, and although I do like them, I think stark white is an interesting and unique contrast to the norm. I especially love this pair from Dolce & Gabbana for both the shape and colour, and I paired them with some fabulous fall pieces from Joe Fresh (LOVING houndstooth for fall!) and some of my in-dreams-only designer pieces from See by Chloé and Carven. 

As someone who has been a constant prescription glasses wearer since grade three (although more recently I prefer contact lenses), I can definitely say there are challenges in finding the perfect pair of frames to make both a fashion statement, but also to be versatile enough to wear every day. While you don't necessarily have to go designer to find what you're looking for, if you love a particular label or style, it's worth hunting down a deal. I have to say I was super impressed with the selection and price points from Smartbuyglasses.ca, so it's definitely worth checking them out!
