The biting winds of winter, harsh sub-zero conditions and endless snowstorms have seriously been doing a number on my skin, and while skincare is always an integral part of my beauty routine, in wintertime a little extra tender loving care is non-negotiable.
Based on what can only be the good influence of my dear sister Rosalyn, creator of multitudinous homemade goods, my desire for wholesome, clean ingredient based beauty solutions is ever increasing. This growing interest has led to action of late; I've started to make a few of my own simple beauty products at home. With that in mind, I thought I'd share my own super-simple recipe for a homemade lip scrub that is, quite literally, good enough to eat.
(Bonus? It can also be used as an all-over scrub to exfoliate the face and body!)
Cinnamon Sugar Lip Scrub:
Four Tablespoons Brown Sugar
One Tablespoon Coconut Oil
One Tablespoon Honey
One Teaspoon Cinnamon
Place all four ingredients in a small mixing bowl. Mix well with a whisk or small fork, until all ingredients are combined but the mixture is still easily picked up.
Store in an airtight jar or container.
To use, take the desired amount and let it warm slightly in your hand. Apply to lips (or elsewhere!) with fingertips and massage gently. Rinse with warm water and (ideally) follow with a lip balm - or moisturizer if using it as a facial or body scrub!
If you give it a try I'd love to hear what you think!
